I found this great post by Jordan Peterson which talks about depression. Dr. Peterson has been very open about his own battle with it, and how hard it is to fight your own mind.
25 million Americans suffer from depression each year. It's a terrible condition that robs good people of their ability to see their own self-worth.
One of the ways I want to empower people is to help them strengthen their minds to be able to handle what life throws at them. When a disruptive event produces a cascade through their entire value system, it is crucial to be able to absorb the impact and keep going.
One way to do so is exercise, which has been shown to be an effective weapon for those battling depression.
It may be small, but it can be the first step to a big impact.
